Daniel Fontaine – Chief Executive Officer for Métis Nation British Columbia

PFM Executive Search is delighted to announce Daniel Fontaine has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC), the Governing body for Métis in BC .

Daniel commenced his employment as Chief Executive Officer on Monday, May 25th. He joins MNBC from BC Care Providers Association, where he served as Chief Executive Officer since 2013.

Daniel has more than 15 years of senior management experience in public relations and governmental affairs, including serving as Chief of Staff to Mayor of Vancouver, Sam Sullivan.

“Daniel is the right choice for CEO, and I am pleased he is joining MNBC”, said Clara Morin Dal Col, President of MNBC. “His extensive experience in governmental affairs will strengthen relations between MNBC and all levels of government. We believe that his leadership experience will advance the vision and mission of MNBC. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Christopher Gall for serving as Executive Director of MNBC for the past year.”

“As a Métis, I’m honoured to be given this amazing opportunity to play a leadership role within my community”, said Daniel Fontaine. “The Métis people are at an historic crossroads in BC and I’m looking forward to bringing my skills, knowledge and background to help them achieve their identified goals and objectives over the coming years.”

Previously, Daniel was Chief Public Affairs Officer for Mitacs, a non-profit organization that links industries and post-secondary institutions to advance relevant industry research, from 2008-2012. Daniel was also employed as Director of Communications for 2010 Legacies Now, a non-profit organization that created lasting social legacies from the infrastructure and funding provided through the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, from 2004-2005.

Daniel received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from the University of Manitoba, and a Communications Certificate in Media Writing and Public Relations from Langara College.
