PFM congratulations Miranda Huron on her appointment as Director, Aboriginal Initiatives for the Industry Training Authority.
Miranda brings many years of experience in teaching, training and curriculum development within post-secondary settings. She recently finished her Masters of Education and is currently pursuing her PhD at UBC, wherein her research focuses on Indigenous education policy. In Miranda’s previous roles, she developed and implemented strategies to recruit and retain students from urban, rural and remote Indigenous areas. She also built and maintained partnerships with bands, government, schools and city agencies to establish strong student programming. Miranda is passionate about supporting various Aboriginal communities. She was a liaison among many organizations, communities and government agencies to reach the best end goal for Indigenous students and communities. In addition to this, Miranda has experience in workshop design and has led lectures on cultural awareness and Indigenous business communications. Miranda is of Anishinaabe heritage.
It is also quite impressive to know that Miranda speaks fluently in English, French and German; and has a working ability in Russian, Japanese, Italian, Latin, Malay, Thai, Musqueam, and Cree!
