With the global demand for food security, the acceleration of alternative reliable methods of food production and the anticipated legalization of cannabis, Argus is experiencing rapid growth. Recently acquired by Conviron, the company operates as a strategic business unit that benefits from the specialized support offered by a larger organization. Located in Surrey, BC Argus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Winnipeg-based Conviron, the worldleader in controlled environment equipment for plant science research.
The General Manager will be the change agent who leads an established manufacturing firm into the next phase of revenue growth and operations excellence. In addition to realizing this vision, the General Manager will be accountable for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the organization. Building, inspiring and coaching a dedicated team will be critical to the overall success of this position.
The General Manager will envision market opportunities, guide a strong senior management team towards continued organic growth, identify new sales channels and capitalize on operational efficiencies. Effective communication and strong collaboration with corporate peers at Conviron will be required to optimize the allocation of collective resources and to leverage organizational strengths and capacity.
The ideal candidate is a progressive senior operational leader who is recognized for his/her general management, business development, communication and interpersonal skills, employing a leadership style that fosters collaboration and a track record of outstanding business results. The incumbent will have proven strategic planning, business development, technical, financial and operations management experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment. He/she will be known and respected as an individual who “rolls up the sleeves” and whose successes are attributable to detailed planning, continuous operational advancements and outstanding relationship skills.
