Arthritis Society Canada
Board Directors
Most people think they know what arthritis is. But the truth is, arthritis is Canada’s most misunderstood and widespread chronic disease. It silently impacts more people in Canada than diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, and dementia combined. It devastates lives. It is the leading cause of disability—stealing employment, mobility, careers and dreams—and costs our economy more than $33 billion annually. It affects people of all ages, including 1 in 4 women, 1 in 6 men, and more than 25,000 children. Without bold action, 9 million people in Canada will be affected within the next two decades.
Arthritis Society Canada is igniting an unprecedented national movement that will change the course of arthritis forever and has mobilized 22 partner organizations to co-create the groundbreaking Arthritis Action Now: The Plan to End Arthritis—the first nationwide strategy bold enough to revolutionize prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and put us on a path to cures. As the backbone organization for this national movement, Arthritis Society Canada is driving coordinated, system-level change.
To realize the promise of the new Arthritis Action Now: The Plan to End Arthritis, we are seeking Board Directors from British Columbia and Alberta, who are influential, strategic business and community leaders ready to serve on our national Board. You bring extensive networks and are willing to leverage them, opening doors to corporate leaders, foundations, and philanthropic individuals to drive investment in a bold future. Backed by Arthritis Society Canada’s exceptional fundraising and marketing teams, your leadership and connections will unlock powerful investments in the future that fuel transformational change.
This is a pivotal time. We are looking for Board leaders ready to challenge the status quo, think nationally, and help position Canada as a global leader in solving one of the world’s most pervasive health challenges. With a 3-year renewable term and the opportunity to drive tangible, lasting change, this volunteer Board appointment offers a meaningful way to share the future of health in Canada.
