Associate Vice-President, Strategic Business Operations and Performance
The British Columbia Housing Management Commission (BC Housing) is a crown agency of the provincial government and is responsible for providing a range of housing programs for British Columbians. BC Housing, together with its partners, works across the housing continuum to: ensure the most vulnerable have housing and support options that provide stability and maximize independence; increase the supply of affordable and supported housing options for people with low and moderate incomes; administer rent assistance programs; oversee the management of provincial housing properties and programs; support strong non-profit and Indigenous housing sectors; and provide a licensing system in which residential builders achieve a high bar of professionalism. BC Housing seeks sustainable housing solutions that are supported by excellence in service delivery and research, and that take into account social, financial and environmental impacts.
The mission and vision of BC Housing could not be clearer: “making a positive difference in people’s lives and communities through safe, affordable and quality housing and serving as a trusted leader and partner in sustainable solutions for British Columbians”. As such, this newly established role of AVP, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the senior leadership team, will focus on business performance planning and reporting out on business operational activities. The AVP will develop, communicate, execute on sustaining strategic initiatives of BC Housing and help drive the establishment of the organization’s strategic plans.
It is all about good governance. Providing leadership in the planning, designing, and implementation of strategic operational objectives and monitoring the execution of the strategic plan while never losing sight of the purpose of BC Housing in creating an effective roadmap in achieving results. As BC Housing embarks on an unprecedented level of government and partner-led housing construction - the largest of its kind in Canada - the AVP has a multi-faceted role of working with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders, including government, to ensure effective alignment of corporate goals and strategies mandated by the Board of Commissioners.
As this is a new role at BC Housing, the organization seeks an individual with both the skills and abilities to undertake this key senior reporting function but also fit with the organizational culture of BC Housing. The ideal candidate will bring an MBA or related post-secondary degree, proven experience in an organizational setting or within a strategic consulting practice environment. Imperative will be the demonstrated ability to deliver on deadlines and have outstanding interpersonal plus written and oral communications skills to engage senior leaders in BC Housing.
