The BC Recreation & Parks Association (BCRPA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing quality of life in our province. We inspire and connect professionals to build healthy and resilient communities through the power of recreation and parks.
We provide leadership, training and support, fostering the principles of accessibility and inclusiveness, to help our members meet provincial and local health and physical activity priorities of every British Columbian.
BCRPA plays a pivotal role in advocating for member priorities that benefit British Columbians. BCRPA is seeking their next CEO and requires an empathetic and nimble senior leader to guide this diverse and vibrant organization. This role requires a passion for active living, community development and the benefits of parks and open spaces. An energetic approach to partner and government relations, membership needs and the dynamic role that BCRPA strategy and initiatives play in creating a healthy society will be intrinsic to success as CEO.
Responsible for all BCRPA activities and operations, providing leadership and support to advance the vision and priorities of the organization, the CEO will lead in a collaborative and inclusive manner. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will manage the needs and demands of the membership group, further develop and build the brand and continue to enhance the level of advocacy within the sector. A sharp focus on building strategic and beneficial relationships with partner groups at all levels across the province will be a key function of the CEO role, as will providing mentorship and development to BCRPA staff.
The successful candidate will truly live the values of the BCRPA and bring with them a proven track record of teamwork and partnership. The CEO will be viewed as a trusted advisor to the Board and will be an effective member advocate with BCRPA’s best interests at the core. They have worked closely with Boards of Directors to guide strategy development and set priorities. The chosen candidate will be a seasoned leader with experience running all aspects of an association, specifically one that is values-driven and enterprising.
