BC Children's Hospital Foundation
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
BC Children’s is the only hospital in the province devoted exclusively to the care of children—and the only hospital here with the expertise to treat the most serious, critical and complex conditions. As one of the top-ranked pediatric hospitals in the world, our expertise is what sets us apart from every other hospital in BC–and it’s why the most challenging conditions faced by kids are treated here. Simply put—there is no other place in the province that does what BC Children’s does. Our goal as the fundraising organization for BC Children’s is to ensure that through donor support, every child in the province has access to the best health care imaginable. Since 1982, our Foundation has been working to inspire people and communities to join our quest to conquer childhood illness and transform children’s health care. The generosity of donors helps change the lives of children and families today; from making new programs possible that are tailored to the medical, emotional and psychological needs of children, to purchasing the latest innovations in equipment and technology. Donor support is also what gives families new hope for tomorrow; helping shape what child health can become by fueling research and initiatives aimed at conquering and ultimately preventing childhood diseases.
Having recently embarked on a bold new strategic plan, BCCHF is looking for a new Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (VP & CFO) to join the Foundation during a time of change. Working in close partnership with the CEO, the VP & CFO will have a clear mandate to ensure that the Foundation has the operational and financial discipline to manage the business of the Foundation in a manner that is considered best in class. In fulfilling this mandate, the VP & CFO will provide vision and leadership to the Finance, Organizational Systems, and Donor Services teams and will provide strategic advice and counsel to the Board, CEO and Executive team.
As the ideal candidate you will be a collaborative, innovative and purpose-driven CFO. A change-maker who looks beyond the pure numbers and sees opportunities while working in tandem with the CEO and Executive Team in articulating a pathway to work with key partners. You will bring a track record of success as a financial executive with a not-for-profit, public or private sector organization where investment management, tax planning, regulatory requirements, board reporting and team leadership have been key aspects of your role.
Coming into this critical role, you will have deftly dealt with complex financial issues facing an organization with hundreds of millions in investments, large corporate and high net worth donors, a wide range of funding needs and interactions with external partners. Beyond the requisite technical financial skills and abilities, as the ideal candidate you will be able to operate at both a strategic and operational level, identifying critical priorities to enable the Foundation to reach its ambitious goals.
Note: As an organization who advocates for child health, we have implemented a mandatory vaccination policy requiring that all employees who work for BCCHF must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Reasonable accommodations will be made upon request should there be a need for an exemption based on the BC Human Rights Code protected grounds; these will be reviewed and discussed on a case-by-case basis.
