Brightside Community Homes Foundation
Chief Executive Officer

A future where people of all income levels have a home within a vibrant and healthy community. That’s the vision of Brightside Community Homes Foundation, an independent non-profit housing provider for people that struggle to meet the demands of market housing. Brightside owns and manages 939 homes within 26 buildings in the City of Vancouver, with an asset base of over $250 million. The organization started with one property over 65 years ago, and today, as one of the province’s largest non-profit housing providers, has plans to significantly grow its portfolio of homes, while also focusing on building community and a sense of belonging and inclusion at each of its properties. An opportunity to guide the organization in realizing this vision now exists as Brightside looks for a new Chief Executive Officer.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brightside will oversee the execution of the organization’s strategic vision for significant expansion of the residence portfolio and the change this represents for the team. In addition to leading the organization through the development and implementation of Brightside’s strategic priorities, the CEO is responsible for directing, coaching and nurturing the team; ensuring the organization’s finances are in order; overseeing the operations of all existing properties and programs to the quality standards Brightside and its residents expect; and addressing any significant issues that arise. The incumbent will also oversee a renewed focus on community-building, partnerships, and programming. The CEO is the primary spokesperson and will work to raise the profile of the organization while actively managing relations with Brightside’s stakeholders, including the residents, staff, Board, community, government, developer partners and donors.

As the ideal candidate, you are an extraordinary leader that blends deep-rooted community values with business effectiveness and you have been responsible for overseeing a large, complex operation, working in partnership with the community as well as with a myriad of other external stakeholders. You are recognized as a credible and influential professional and you are motivated to build and expand on an already successful organization. You are a confident spokesperson with experience running all aspects of an organization, ideally with some understanding of the unique nature of an enterprise that provides social services. You have worked closely with Boards of Directors to guide strategy development and set priorities, and you are an outstanding motivator and mentor of professional staff teams. In addition, you are a proven negotiator and someone with a track record of effectively stewarding a significant asset base. You bring an ability to scale up an organization while also improving service and program delivery.
