Information Technology is central to the College’s educational, learning-centric, operational and administrative mandates. Reporting to the Vice President, Administration and leading a team of 47 professionals, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) touches-on virtually every aspect of the College and is responsible for overseeing, planning, and directing the full range of services and supports within the Information Technology Services (ITS) portfolio (and its staff and budget). The position is accountable for developing an IT strategy that is aligned with, and driven by, the College Strategic Plan, and with an unwavering focus and desire to evolve the most responsive, efficient and effective customer service model possible. The CIO investigates, evaluates, and presents innovative ideas to create new opportunities to help Camosun accelerate the achievement of its strategic goals and vision, within the changing and dynamic post-secondary context.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced technology leader who has either built a career within an educational setting, or demonstrated a lifelong commitment to learning and the power of education, and you have a keen understanding of the role information technology plays in the over-all operation of a large, complex public education organization. As the CIO, you possess a supportive leadership approach with an ability to lead in complex situations, working collaboratively and with confidence, to balance the needs of diverse stakeholders and customers. You have a reputation for enabling solutions to meet the educational goals of the college, and you have a background in creating a learning culture within ITS. You also have a demonstrable reputation as a skillful listener and communicator, able to communicate with audiences at all levels. Additionally, you have a track record of outstanding client relationship management, as well as a proven ability to develop, plan and deliver mission critical initiatives on time and on budget. Your experience leading an IT team of professionals is augmented by a degree in business, computer science, or similar.
