With continued population growth, strategic priorities that focus on smart city development and healthy community infrastructure, the City of North Vancouver is seeking a strategic and multi-faceted leader to join as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the CFO will provide strategic direction, guidance, and leadership in the areas of finance and procurement, including establishing goals and objectives and interpreting policy directives. The CFO oversees a budget in excess of $250 million and will be accountable for allocating resources, approving budget recommendations and identifying prudent financial strategies.

The ideal candidate is an innovative and motivational leader who has had responsibility for providing effective financial leadership in a complex and progressive organization. Vision-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, the candidate will bring a genuine belief in the value of public participation and the proven ability to develop credibility and work effectively with elected officials, employees and external partner groups. The CFO will bring considerable experience working with a wide range of partner groups to implement new initiatives and can move from consultation to results in an inclusive and collaborative way.

Creativity and a fresh approach to problem solving will serve the CFO well as trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership team and Council.  Ideally, the CFO will be a CPA or possess the requisite education and lived experience to take on the complexity of this role. A true mentor and coach, the ideal candidate has developed skillful teams that take a partner-approach to internal and external relationships.
