The City of North Vancouver (CNV) is seeking a dynamic individual with exceptional real estate, negotiation, and leadership skills to advance the CNV’s strategic priority to become a “Prosperous City”.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the inaugural Deputy Director, Real Estate & Economic Development will provide leadership to its Real Estate and Economic Development teams, guide the development of a Land Stewardship Model for CNV’s residential and commercial landholdings covering land acquisition, portfolio optimization and use, lead real estate and land development research and provide strategic real estate advice in support of CNV’s vision for redeveloping areas of the City, including the best use of surplus lands. The Deputy Director will oversee meaningful economic development work in the City, including the development and implementation of economic development strategies, policies, plans and programs as well as the management of business licensing and related regulations to support the City’s business community. As a key member of the senior management team, you will seek and respond to opportunities to drive the growth and revenue diversification, develop strong and positive relationships with external partner groups and contribute to the strategic direction and overall management and growth of the City.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary business degree with a focus on real estate economics or appraisal, or equivalent, along with extensive knowledge and experience with complex lands negotiations and demonstrated business development experience.  The Deputy Director will have proven interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to guide and direct a team of professionals, as well as the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with elected officials, partner groups and the general public.
