Director, Labour Relations
The Construction Labour Relations Association of BC (CLR) was established in 1969 with the objective of bringing labour relations stability and security to contractors in BC’s unionized construction sector. Today, CLR continues to provide a unified voice that is essential to negotiating the most favourable agreements for its members and the industry. In addition to Labour Relations, CLR has expanded its mandate to include a full range of Health & Safety products and services. Human Resources services continue to grow as well, including the Better SuperVision program for construction foremen and supervisors, and administration of a Drug & Alcohol testing program.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Labour Relations, the Director, Labour Relations is responsible for client service and representing CLR on various committees. The Director leads all aspects of Labour Relations and Human Resources with respect to their assigned trade sectors, while providing service to clients in all matters relating to Labour Relations and Human Resources.
The ideal candidate will bring exceptional skills and experience in the area of Labour Relations and possess an ability to develop strong relationships with key constituents quickly in order to develop policies and practices that result in reduced risks to members and that maximise members’ ability to perform work safely and profitably.
The Director will provide Labour Relations subject matter expertise while overseeing the proactive and consistent management of issues with Labour Relations impact, and will also provide broader Human Resources consulting services and advice. Experience as a chief spokesperson at the bargaining table and/or in the construction sector would be considered an asset but is not essential.
