District of West Vancouver
Chief Administrative Officer

The District of West Vancouver, with a resident population of approximately 44,000, is consistently ranked as one of Canada’s most spectacular and livable residential communities. From waterfront beaches to mountain-top trails, the District offers the best the West Coast has to offer, in close proximity to the region’s urban centre. West Vancouver has a diverse geography and population, offers a distinctive lifestyle, and is committed to providing a high quality of service to its residents.  The District’s Council has clear priorities and a comprehensive Official Community Plan that serve as drivers of the superior level of work being done to support the future of this one-of-a-kind municipality.

A jewel of the Lower Mainland, the District of West Vancouver is a unique and dynamic community.  At a pivotal point in its evolution, this mature jurisdiction is embracing the diversity of its citizenry in a more robust way than ever.  With a committed Mayor and Council leading the charge with an ambitious set of key priorities, the need for continued strong CAO leadership is paramount.

The CAO will lead a highly engaged professional workforce in a municipal setting that is known for its legendary beauty, respect for the environment, fiscal and social responsibility, engagement with the community and an unparalleled quality of service to its citizens.  Showcasing integrity and a collaboration, the CAO will excel in building and maintain effective stakeholder relationships not only internally but externally with community agencies, regional government entities and beyond.  The CAO will be nimble at managing the priorities and strategic vision of Council, alongside day to day stewardship of the District’s multi-faceted operations.  Solutions oriented, the new CAO will be a champion of equity, diversity and inclusion and will ensure sustainability permeates the District’s work.

The ideal candidate will be an intelligent, responsive and engaging leader who has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with diverse community stakeholders.  Known for a proactive approach, the new CAO will provide sound strategic and operational advice on a myriad of projects and priorities.  The selected candidate will be known for their progressive citizen engagement and public participation philosophy, attentiveness to the human capital side of municipal government and will bring an energetic and courageous approach to the work at hand.
