Associate Vice President, Research
Established 1981, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, has four campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia. KPU offers bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations in more than 120 programs. Almost 20,000 students annually attend courses at KPU campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Associate Vice President, Research is responsible for building a legacy of innovative research and scholarship to complement KPU’s excellence in teaching.
As a key member of the senior administration of KPU, the Associate Vice President, Research will facilitate the development of research programs and the integration of research and scholarship across the entire breadth of KPU’s programs. The successful candidate will have a broad view of research and scholarship and will promote the engagement of faculty, staff and students.
As the ideal candidate, the AVP, Research will have a pivotal role in the fiscal and program success of the Office of Research and Scholarship. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the management of grants, contracts and liaising with industry, and will be instrumental in creating a legacy and endowment to sustain research.
In addition, the AVP, Research will have responsibility for administration, financial management and playing a strategic role in the establishment of KPU’s research initiatives while ensuring its effectiveness and responsiveness to the research needs of the KPU community.
The preferred candidate will possess a thorough understanding of a complex, multi-faceted university environment and its research function, and will bring experience supporting research activities. In addition, the AVP, Research will have a strong commitment to, appreciation of and genuine interest in research as it relates to a broad range of disciplines. The ideal candidate will be able to act as an effective motivator and supporter for the research community and is a champion of interdisciplinary research.
