The Vice President, Policy & Legal Services (VP, PLS) sets LTSA’s policy agenda and is accountable for the creation, evaluation, and continual updating of regulatory and policy frameworks and documents present within LTSA that guide the way the business operates. The VP, PLS helps the business to achieve its strategic goals – defining the possible, while navigating potential policy challenges. To this end, the VP, PLS works closely with government partners to identify opportunities for the LTSA to leverage its infrastructure, resources and capacity to provide additional programs and services and support the regulatory, statutory or policy changes that need to occur to facilitate this. In addition, they work with their colleagues in Operations to provide the tools required for the operations team to effectively execute their roles in compliance with LTSA policy and relevant legislation; and they work with their colleagues in Business Innovation to enable and support new opportunities as they arise. As a member of the LTSA Executive, the VP, PLS leads a highly professional team – some with statutory responsibility –supporting the achievement of the organization’s mission, vision and mandate.

The ideal candidate is an experienced executive who has worked in the policy, regulatory and legal fields and has leveraged these functional areas to allow an organization to grow and thrive. They have worked in a complex public sector environment with a multi-faceted bottom line, where relationships are key to moving an agenda forward. The ideal candidate is an enabler who supports new ideas and concepts and finds a way forward within the legislative and policy framework. They are known as a credible expert who operates with integrity, and they are also an effective leader of professional teams and can support team members’ growth and development. Outstanding relationship skills have been key to the Vice President’s success.
