Executive Director, Communications, Marketing & Government Relations

Located in beautiful Vancouver, BC, Canada, Langara College is one of BC’s leading undergraduate institutions providing University Studies, Career Studies, and Continuing Studies programs and courses to more than 23,000 students annually.

Langara College started in 1965 as part of Vancouver Community College and was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act in 1994. The College is also known as snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓, house of teachings, a name given to them by the Musqueam First Nation, on whose unceded traditional territory they are located.

This newly elevated and critical role will have a clear focus on strategic communications and marketing, along with enhancing the brand of one of BC’s leading colleges. The Executive Director will be a collaborative and collegial leader that will shape and refine an integrated marketing communications approach to advance Langara College’s brand. The Executive Director will oversee the development of comprehensive, strategic and operational plans that involve a diverse group of key partner groups inside and outside the Institution and will create a new and innovative style of engagement as Langara College enters its next Strategic and Academic Plan and future operations. This role will inspire and drive a cross-functional emphasis that embraces digital and social marketing, media partnership, overall strategic communications and related public affairs activities that inspire and rally colleagues, community, government, industry, and other key partners.

The ideal candidate will be a highly capable and trusted advisor to the Vice-President, External to whom this position reports to. Bringing many years of strategic marketing and communications expertise within a multi-layered, diverse and complex organization, the chosen candidate will be known for their vision and dynamic leadership. The ability to work collaboratively, inspire progressive marketing and communications strategies and engage with government partners in a productive manner are key facets of success, alongside possession of sound judgment, foresight and the highest of professional ethics.
