The Board of Education of School District No. 42 (Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows) is highly regarded for the quality of its education and its commitment to students in the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, which are situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Katzie First Nation and Kwantlen First Nation. Growing rapidly, the District aspires to meet the individual learning needs of its 16,000 students residing in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and on Katzie First Nation, and expects to increase by more than 1000 learners over the next four years. Defined by its determination to keep student learning and growth at the heart of all its decisions, the district is proud of the province-leading innovative programs it has piloted and implemented to support the pursuit of engagement of all learners in the school district, and prioritizes educational choice, inclusive programs, and partnerships for skilled trades training. As a result of an upcoming retirement, the District is now looking for its next Superintendent of Schools.

The District seeks a new Superintendent of Schools who will provide inspirational and strategic leadership to students, staff, families, and the community, and bring an innovative voice to the school district, focusing on efforts that support the District’s position of inclusivity, choice and engagement. As the Chief Executive Officer reporting directly to the elected Board of Education, the Superintendent enables the staff, educators and administrators in the implementation of the Board’s vision and strategy, based on the most current educational research and a commitment to continuous growth and development.

The District’s next Superintendent is an experienced and accomplished educational leader with a deep affinity for all student success and a reputation for creating and fostering a culture that supports relationships, communication, collaboration, and innovation, and that celebrates diversity and embraces inclusivity. Demonstrated experience as a highly people-focused and humble leader in a positive and innovative educational environment is critical. An ability to build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Board of Education is vital to the success of the new Superintendent in order to navigate forward given the changing educational landscape and fiscal realities of the public education sector. As the ideal candidate, your experience is augmented by a demonstrated alignment to the District’s values, and supported by a career of success from the classroom to administration. A Master’s degree and eligibility for membership with the Teacher Regulation Branch of B.C. is required.
