Director of Operations

Mazzei Electric Ltd. (Mazzei) is an award-winning organization that was established in 1994 in Nanaimo, BC, as a small, family-run company that focused on commercial service contracts. Having experienced rapid growth since 2012, the organization now operates across Vancouver Island, throughout the Okanagan, and in Northern BC, and boasts experience across a variety of multi family residential, commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects. This project experience is complimented by a service department that offers fully equipped service vans in all of Mazzei’s locations for residential and commercial service and maintenance. Reporting to the President, the Director of Operations (Director) will play an integral role in overseeing Mazzei’s operations across British Columbia to ensure efficiency and profitability. Working closely at a strategic level with the Leadership Team, the Director will share responsibility for leading Mazzei into its next phase of sustainable growth and operational excellence. They will establish long- and short-term goals that stimulate creativity and productivity within the workforce, while maintaining a strong focus on Mazzei’s values. The Director will lead Project Management and Service Management teams, manage to KPIs and support a positive and rewarding workplace culture.

The ideal candidate is a proven, progressive senior operational leader who is recognized for their general management, operational excellence, communication, and interpersonal skills. Employing a leadership style that fosters collaboration, the Director will have proven planning, technical, financial, and risk mitigation experience, gained within a construction-related field or industrial setting where budgets, timelines, quality of product, and customer service are of paramount importance. Self-motivated and hard-working, they will be known and respected as an individual who pursues continuous improvement and whose successes are attributable to detailed planning, skilled negotiation, and outstanding relationship building skills.

The Director will be a communicative and visible leader, ensuring team members are engaged and focused on common goals. They will demonstrate an ability to lead within an organization that is values-based and is known for embracing innovative ideas and creative solutions. Accustomed to overseeing large teams across multiple sites, they will implement and refine systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the delivery of exceptional results, not only for Mazzei’s bottom line, but for its clients and team members as well.
