Port Moody Police Department
Deputy Chief Constable

The City of Port Moody is a vibrant and growing City located an easy 40-minute drive from both downtown Vancouver and the US border. When the City was incorporated in 1913, City Council decided to establish their own police department. Today, the Department is composed of 52 uniformed members and 15 civilian members who each demonstrate a strong commitment to community with the Department motto of “no call too small”. The strong support they receive from the community has certainly reinforced their long-term commitment to their brand. As they move forward, influencing the quality of life in Port Moody by delivering exceptional police services will remain a primary focus for the Department.

The Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) is seeking a police leader with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to best practices related to operations and administration to assume the role of Deputy Chief Constable.  The Deputy will play a key role in ensuring that PMPD is focused on maintaining a safe and engaged community in addition to ensuring the strength of its organizational abilities.

Reporting directly to the Chief Constable, the Deputy is responsible for providing leadership to various parts of the organization.  The Deputy will play a key role on the Senior Leadership Team and will provide guidance to all areas related to operations, administration, and human resources, in addition to providing oversight for Professional Standards. As part of his/her responsibilities they will work closely with the Police Board, the City management team, and various stakeholders to maintain the PMPD’s role as a partner in the community.

The ideal candidate must bring at least 10 years of police leadership with a reputation of being an inclusive leader who has been able to create a shared vision with senior officers and the rank & file. Forging outstanding relationships internally and externally within a community focused policing environment will be a hallmark of the selected candidate’s success.  The new Deputy Chief will bring integrity, personal resolve, strength of character and unsurpassed dedication to the people who serve as sworn police members and civilian staff.
