In this inaugural role, the Chief Information Officer (CIO), reporting directly to the IT Partner and with guidance from the Managing Partner, will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing technology initiatives that align with the overall strategic plan of Smythe LLP. Assisted by a 5 person IT Team, the Chief Information Officer directs the planning and implementation of technology systems to support the Firm’s commitment to its staff and its clients. This individual is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the Firm’s technology strategy and operations.
The ideal candidate is a senior IT professional with exceptional change management, facilitation and people leadership skills who has selected best-in-class systems from around the globe and successfully integrated those with existing infrastructure within an organization. The CIO is a sophisticated, strategic thinker who has a keen understanding of the critical role IT plays in the overall operations of a complex organization. This individual possesses a supportive leadership approach with an ability to lead in complex situations, working collaboratively and with confidence, to balance the needs of the Firm.
Working collaboratively with the Firm’s Senior Management Team, the new CIO will understand how to enable the business to meet current client demands while thinking innovatively about where the business is headed in the future. This person will have a demonstrable reputation as a skillful listener and communicator, with audiences at all levels. Additionally, the CIO has a track record of having a proven ability to develop, plan, and deliver mission critical initiatives on time and on budget. Experience leading an IT team of professionals is augmented by a degree in computer science, information systems, or similar.
