Squamish Terminals
Director, Operations & Logistics

Squamish Terminals Ltd. is a deep-water, break-bulk terminal located in Squamish, British Columbia. Since 1972, the organization has been serving customers in Western Canada, across North America and around the world. The Squamish Terminals site is situated at the north end of the Howe Sound, just 32 nautical miles north of the Port of Vancouver. Squamish Terminals is a wholly owned subsidiary of Grieg Star Shipping AS based in Bergen, Norway. With two berths, three warehouses, specialized handling equipment, an experienced workforce and an intermodal transportation infrastructure including rail, ocean and truck, Squamish Terminals efficiently imports and exports cargo to major global markets.

The Director, Operations & Logistics reports directly to the President and is a key member of the executive team, responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable day to day operations of the site. The Director’s mandate includes contributing to planning, executing and achieving the strategic objectives of the organization, managing the operations, maintenance and traffic workforce, as well as ensuring safety and regulatory compliance standards are adhered to at all times. The Director leads, mentors and guides an established team, developing strengths within the group, and addressing areas in need of improvement, all the while developing a culture of hard work, consistent improvement and pride.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished and credible operations leader, capable of inspiring positivity while driving accountabilities. Ideally the individual will bring extensive experience overseeing operations and maintenance teams in a complex, unionized, supply chain/logistics operation, preferably on the waterfront.  He/she will possess strong people management skills, problem solving abilities, process optimization aptitude, customer service orientation, and demonstrable financial and business acumen. The chosen candidate will thrive within an environment where there is an energetic pace, a sense of urgency to accomplish tasks, the pressure to meet deadlines, and unexpected events to face throughout the day.

The community of Squamish is surrounded by a spectacular mountain and ocean backdrop, and recognized worldwide for its culture and incredible outdoor recreation. A truly breathtaking location, combined with a population of nearly 20,000 people has resulted in a centre of activity that embraces continual evolution and development. As more people look for a healthy, safe and affordable lifestyle, Squamish will continue to experience significant growth while staying true to its roots.
