St. John Ambulance, British Columbia & Yukon (SJA BCY) is a not for profit, mission-driven enterprise, committed to ‘empowering safer communities through first aid leadership’. SJA BCY is part of the federated St. John Ambulance organization in Canada, which is represented from coast to coast and is the only national first aid training provider recognized in every Canadian province and territory. SJA BCY is privileged to be part of an organization with over 900 years of service to humanity and today it is a market leader in the development and delivery of first aid courses, first aid products, and the provision of first aid in communities through its 1500 plus volunteers. A unique opportunity has arisen to play a key leadership role in continuing to bring SJA BCY’s products and services to its partners and customers as the organization’s new Director, Business Development.
Combining a rich history and an innovative, modern agenda, SJA BCY is a market leader in the provision of first aid training courses and first aid products, and its success in driving its course and product commercial program is central to its ability to invest in its volunteer-delivered community services. Reporting to the CEO and a member of the SJA BCY Executive Team, the Director, Business Development (Director) will drive the creation of a new business development strategy, create meaningful B2B relationships, and build SJA BCY’s revenue base by taking advantage of substantial, untapped opportunities to significantly grow SJA BCY’s commercial program on behalf of its partners, volunteers, and communities. The Director will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team and be responsible for directing all strategic and operational business development initiatives while at the same time rolling up their sleeves to work cross- functionally to get new initiatives implemented effectively across the whole of SJA BCY’s operations.
As the ideal candidate, you are a creative and entrepreneurial business development professional, with progressively more senior leadership experience ideally gained within a B2B business development environment. With strengths that encompass strategy creation, relationship management, key account identification, building customised solutions, and forming value-adding partnerships, you are imaginative, tech astute, and business-minded with the proven ability to successfully transform an organization’s business development strategy to one that differentiates and resonates in a competitive marketplace. You are a recognized leader who can coalesce and motivate a team and can also lead with influence. You are comfortable and effective supporting decision-makers and experienced in building organizational strategy as a key leader in an organization. Above all, you believe in SJA BCY’s mission, vision, and story, and live the organization’s core values.
