Chief Operating Officer

Strand is a Vancouver-based finance, development, and investment company active across North America. Strand has an established track record of success built over more than 45 years of operation and 43,000 homes. With a large and diverse pipeline of scale development projects across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, consisting of over 4,000 homes, 500,000 square feet of commercial space and 1 million square feet of industrial space, Strand is making its mark on the region. Further, Strand is in the process of launching a Canadian debt fund and American debt fund to compliment its development activities.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the leadership team responsible for providing strategic expertise to real estate investment strategies, overseeing complex multi-family developments, in addition to providing sound financial and risk management oversight. Reporting directly to both the President and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO is a key contributor to the development and implementation of the company’s growth strategies and is responsible for the overall direction of the development, investment and finance functions for Strand. The incumbent will act as a trusted leader within the organization and ensures thoughtful and tactical planning of capital & financing, keeping in mind the existing portfolio and seeking out new opportunities. Leading and mentoring a highly experienced professional team, the COO will forge and maintain strong working relationships with all of Strand’s key partners.

The COO is a valued member of the Executive Leadership Team, with opportunities to directly invest in each development, and will be an active participant in the development and implementation of the corporate strategic plan.

The ideal candidate is a progressive, driven and business-minded senior real estate leader who is accustomed to an entrepreneurial and fast-growing organization. The incumbent has demonstrated leadership and has been successful in developing, implementing and evaluating investment, development and financial programs that provide a high level of service and performance. Superior interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to think strategically and instill a continuous improvement mindset are hallmarks of a suitable candidate. This individual will bring considerable experience working with a wide range of partner groups to implement new initiatives and can move from consultation to results in an inclusive and collaborative way. The incoming COO’s knowledge and career experience will be supported by an appropriate educational background and experience in the real estate development sector.
