While gaining an incredible reputation in the sector for transforming lives, Surrey Women’s Centre has supported women and girls to escape domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other forms of gender-based violence for more than 25 years. Innovative programming and a commitment to building strategic coordinated partnerships has allowed Surrey Women’s Centre to grow its continuum of key services to include a crisis line, drop-in centre, hospital, police and court accompaniment, individual and group counselling, and a medical clinic. Surrey Women’s Centre runs the largest community-based victim services program in the Province.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a passionate team dedicated to creating significant social change. Recognizing that marginalized women and girls are at increased risk of gender-based violence; often facing multiple barriers accessing key medical, legal and social services, Surrey Women’s Centre (SWC) makes increasing their safety and supports a priority.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will create and articulate a long-term vision that captures the passion of the organization and creates a direction that the Board, staff, donors, funders and women who rely on SWC will embrace. The ED will provide leadership and direction on all aspects of SWC activities, including operations, strategic visioning, fundraising, and staffing. The ED will have a strong focus on stakeholder relations, representing SWC’s interests to community and civic organizations, government and other funders, donors, and the general public.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader capable of successfully creating and articulating a vision that will advance the status of women and girls and fulfill the mission of the organization. The candidate will inspire their staff by having a broad depth of experience working with a diverse range of survivors of violence using feminist, harm reduction and trauma-informed responses. Having outstanding interpersonal and communications abilities, this person will bring a track record of success in working with donors and developing fundraising initiatives that will benefit the organization.
