The University is looking for an energetic and innovative academic entrepreneur to serve as Executive Director, Extended Learning. Aligned with the University’s strategic plan for educational excellence, the Executive Director will work with academic partners within and beyond UBC as well as stakeholder organizations across the province, throughout Canada and internationally to solidify, strengthen and strategically expand Extended Learning and explore education opportunities that respond to the needs of the communities which they serve.

Reporting directly to the Associate Provost, Teaching and Learning, the Executive Director is responsible for setting the strategic direction and leading the execution of a long-term strategy for UBC Extended Learning, and for making significant contributions to the advancement of innovative career and personal education and lifelong learning at UBC. The Executive Director will produce significant sustainable positive impacts in local, regional, national and international communities through innovative approaches to continuing education at UBC.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and inspirational leader with a passion for lifelong learning. They will be able to demonstrate how they have built teams and partnerships to creative compelling learning experiences aligned to market and social trends that deliver on key performance goals.

The incumbent will have highly-developed emotional intelligence, exhibit sophisticated social awareness and skillful relationship management skills in order to create and maintain effective partnerships. The ability to collaborate with academic leaders and faculty, exhibiting both collegiality and influence, is essential.
