The Director, Health and Safety ensures strategic leadership of the Airport’s comprehensive health and safety strategy and programming. This is a broad leadership role which ensures an inclusive approach to enhancing health and safety right across YVR’s facilities, operations and people. The Director, Health and Safety is accountable for the Integrated Airport Safety Strategy (IASS) that focuses on improvements to people, processes, infrastructure and technology across the 18,000 workers at Sea Island.  This includes accountability for an effective safety management system (SMS) in compliance with the Canada Labour Code and Canadian Aviation Regulations, as well as a comprehensive contractor and construction safety program that ensures contract workers remain in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and internal standards and processes.

This leadership role requires a strategic thinker who is passionate for health, safety and wellbeing to ensure it drives business results and additionally an individual who possesses strong leadership behaviours to lead, influence, coach and support colleagues and their direct team. YVR believes it’s everyone’s accountability to take action every day to prevent hazards and incidents, and work collectively to build a stronger health, safety and wellbeing community for the Airport. This will ensure YVR becomes one of the safest airports in the world. At YVR, safety is their license to operate, and they are looking for the right leader to meet those needs.
