Director, Financial Planning & Business Support
With a budget of over $4 billion, and over 20,000 staff, and 3000 active volunteers, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) provides services along the full continuum of care to 1.25 million residents of British Columbia’s south coast region. VCH has a purpose of coming together as one collective team to deliver an exceptional care experience for all, and those experiences include everything from acute, primary and community care, to mental health and substance abuse support, to long-term and home care and assisted living. In addition, more than 900 principal investigators conduct clinical and discovery research at VCH Research Institute, and VCH has a close partnership with the University of British Columbia and its Faculty of Medicine.
Reporting to the Regional Director, Strategic Financial Planning, the Director, Financial Planning & Business Support provides strategic and operational decision support to the COO/VP and the Senior Leadership for their designated Community of Care and regional program(s), as well as across the organization for the Lower Mainland Consolidated Services, PHSA, and other health authorities where appropriate.
The Director liaises with the business stakeholders and operational teams to ensure proper planning, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting processes are in place, and provides senior level strategic advice and expertise for operational decision support, risks, and issues. Upon completion of industry and gap analysis, the Director influences leadership on forecasting and changes to resource allocation, ensuring organizational sustainability and alignment of strategic priorities for multiple programs and/or organizations. The Director also assumes overall responsibility for the review, analysis, and validation of key performance indicators in the context of the financial budget, and for communicating operational/capital issues to their respective VCH SET member and the Regional Director. Tech savvy, the Director will identify and realize transformational opportunities in Finance, their CoC and regional program(s), and across VCH.
The ideal candidate will be a proven business partner and trusted advisor and brings progressive leadership experience in the area of financial planning and business operations support in a complex matrix environment that has multiple business lines and/or programs/services. Experience with reporting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis are key. Healthcare experience is not a requirement, but an asset. There must be a sincere interest and passion for healthcare.
