Vice President, Operations
VetCare’s story began when our founder, Andrew Black, tried every cure under the sun to provide relief to Buddy, the family dog’s skin issues. This was Andrew’s AHA! moment as he realized that these days pets aren’t animals as much as family. This led him to explore the clinical aspect of taking care of these much-loved patients. VetCare was officially founded in 2015 upon acquiring two veterinary practices, where we worked side-by-side with teams to understand every aspect of the industry. Along the way, we realized the importance and value beyond a practice’s operational requirements, which is why we work hand-in-hand with owners throughout the whole transition process. Today, VetCare is a proudly independent, Vancouver-based company, with associates located across Canada, focused exclusively on acquiring and operating veterinary practices, while keeping each practice’s heart intact.
Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the Vice President of Operations (VP) is responsible for visioning and implementing the national operational strategy with a focus on long-term sustainable growth, operational effectiveness, and the achievement of financial objectives. The VP plays an integral role in the pursuit of VetCare’s ambitious growth plan to become a leading player in veterinary medicine in Canada. As a key member of the senior management team, the VP seamlessly combines solution-driven expertise, financial savvy, emotional intelligence and utilizes a servant leadership mindset to promote excellence in alignment with VetCare’s people-first culture and values.
The ideal candidate is a progressive senior operational leader who is recognized for their general management, operational excellence, communication, and interpersonal skills. Employing a leadership style that fosters collaboration and demonstrating a track record of outstanding results in achieving efficiencies and resulting profitability, the VP Operations will have proven planning, technical, and financial experience, gained within a related multi-site enterprise. This exciting and challenging position in a highly service oriented entrepreneurial organization requires expert operational management and, ideally, previous experience leading an organization through significant national expansion.
