At WorkSafeBC, you’ll be part of a team that is dedicated to our important vision and a corporate culture that respects and celebrates diversity and learning.

An exciting opportunity exists for a senior communications professional to join one of British Columbia’s major employers, WorkSafeBC.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director, Government, Community & Media Relations leads the Government, Community & Media Relations department at WorkSafeBC. The Director is responsible for the development, execution and monitoring of WorkSafeBC’s comprehensive media, government and community relations strategies that support and promote WorkSafeBC’s goals, objectives and key deliverables. As a member of the Divisional management team, the position participates in Divisional and Corporate policy development, planning and decision making activities. The Director also participates on the Senior Executive Committee, and works with Corporate Communications and Marketing to ensure internal and external communications are coordinated, strategic and consistent across all platforms.

As a primary conduit for WorkSafeBC with government, media and community relations, the ideal candidate brings 8-10 years of senior management experience in government and public affairs, gained within a significantly sizeable organization. A seasoned professional communicator who is able to demonstrate consistent leadership and decision making abilities based on sound judgement, the Director will work collaboratively with senior executives and the Communications and Marketing teams, to ensure information is distributed in an effective and timely manner.

The ideal candidate holds a post-secondary degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, or Public Relations, and has held progressively senior positions within public sector organizations or government.
