YMCA of Greater Vancouver
Chief Financial Officer

The YMCA is a powerful association of adults and children of all ages and abilities joined together by a shared commitment: to strengthen community. The YMCA of Greater Vancouver (YGV) serves more than 115,000 people across the Lower Mainland, and its 4,000 volunteers and staff work together to help children and families reach their full potential by promoting healthy living and reducing isolation. The YGV has been serving the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Sunshine Coast for 130 years and currently offers programs at 185 locations. With an active portfolio of capital projects, the YGV is on track to double its reach.

The CFO is a critical role providing leadership for the YGV’s financial assets to meet present and future strategic requirements. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, and supporting the YGV’s Board and Strategic Leadership Team, the CFO leads a team that includes Finance, IT and Enterprise Risk to support and enable the organization to meet its overall vision and mission.

As the senior finance staff member, the CFO is responsible for developing, monitoring and executing the finance plan and budget to ensure the YMCA’s vision and strategy are realized. They support the continued sustainable and effective evolution and growth of the YMCA during a large capital planning process, providing financial, contract and risk management support in the oversight of a large real estate portfolio. The CFO also ensures efficient and effective financial management of all programs and services delivered by the YMCA Entities. The CFO optimizes the YGV’s assets through effective management and investment of funds, and effective revenue and expense strategies. They also ensure that financial procedures and controls are in place, and safeguards YMCA finances and assets.

As the ideal candidate, you are a successful financial professional who has been responsible for overseeing the finance function in a complex, multi-faceted, program delivery organization. You live the YGV values; demonstrate excellent leadership, coaching and communication skills; and have the self-confidence to advise and interact with the YGV’s leadership team, Entity Boards and other diverse stakeholders. With significant growth on the horizon for the YGV, you must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment while overseeing a complex portfolio and managing the work of a small team. You ideally have experience in the charitable sector, healthcare, social services or a related industry sector. Experience overseeing Information Technology and Risk Management is preferred. Your experience is augmented by a CPA designation.
