Hobson Leavy is thrilled to be partnering with the Financial Markets Authority in the executive search for its next Executive Director, Transformation & Operational Delivery.
As New Zealand’s conduct regulator for the finance sector, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) – Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko, promotes and facilitates the development of fair, efficient, and transparent financial markets.
The FMA’s vision is clear – more New Zealanders than ever believe the financial services sector is working well for them. They ensure better outcomes for all by building confidence, participation and efficiency in New Zealand’s financial markets.
As part of its programme to evolve and transform the way it operates, prepare for its expanding mandate, and continue to foster a strong and trusted financial sector that treats people fairly, the FMA has announced changes to its executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CE, the senior leaders will work at a highly strategic level with a cross-organisation view and capability to lead in other areas. As a strong enterprise leadership collective and one team, the six Executive Directors will have joint responsibility for achieving FMA’s strategic goals, growth and transformation as they prepare for a larger role focused on outcomes for consumers of financial services in Aotearoa.
The FMA is looking for an Executive Director, Transformation & Operational Delivery which is one of the newly created enterprise leadership positions. This role is responsible for setting the strategic vision for a new function and capability that will support and enable the FMA. They will be responsible for the group including transformational change, finance, operations, and people and capability, providing internal support to enable the whole of the FMA to do great work and ensure it is a great place to be. The Executive Director will build and lead a proactive, strategic, and future proofed group, enabled by modern and world class tools, systems and practices.
The position will hold joint responsibility for ensuring the FMA develops into a globally recognised, outcomes-focused regulator through leading the development of a new common vision, a more scalable structure and an autonomous and collaborative workforce.
With the FMA, you’ll be making a difference by enabling New Zealanders to have confidence that our financial sector provides a strong foundation for their financial future – helping them to save and invest, manage their risks, borrow, make payments, and support their families.
