Reporting to the CEO, this newly created position will support ITA in advocating for and promoting strong representation for women in trades, and support the advancement of a diverse and inclusive trades training and apprenticeship system.
Lisa was previously the Assistant Business Manager for IBEW 213, where she was responsible for negotiating and administering IBEW’s collective agreements with the Vancouver School Board, the City of Vancouver Electrical Operations, the City of Vancouver Inspectors and Technicians, the City of New Westminster, and Mackay Communications.
Lisa is a passionate advocate for the skilled trades and for women’s equal place in those trades. Since then she’s accomplished much for women in trades: she took the lead in developing relationships with industry, labour and government that lead to research and government funding for women in the trades projects in BC; she’s also conducted research on the retention and advancement of women in trades; developed and facilitated curriculum for workshops and courses on matters such as mentorship, leadership, communication skills, diversity and inclusion, and women in trades.
Lisa is currently a member on two Boards – she is president of the BC Tradeswomen Society and is on the governance committee for the BC Centre for Women in the Trades. Lisa was also a member of ITA’s Board of Directors May 2018 – September 2019; but after much consideration stepped down to follow her passion in creating a more inclusive trades training and apprenticeship system. She is also a Red Seal Electrician.
