Renee Murdoch – Director, Human Resources for Hardwoods Distribution Inc.

PFM Executive Search is pleased to announce that on December 1st, Renee Murdoch will be joining Hardwoods Distribution Inc. as the company’s new Director, Human Resources. Renee will report to the CEO, Rob Brown,  and will be based in the corporate office in Langley, BC. Renee is an experienced HR professional, most recently leading the HR function at Britco Structures. She brings a track record of success in a number of industrial and retail businesses. Her responsibility will be to build upon Hardwoods’ existing people practices as well as developing long term human resource strategies and best practises for the company.

Hardwoods Distribution has been in operation since 1926. Following its most recent acquisition of Rugby Architectural Building Products in the US, the organization is North America’s largest distributor of hardwood lumber, panel and interior architectural building materials, with coast-to-coast operations, 60 branches, over 1,000 employees, and approximately C$1.0 Billion sales.

Rene Appelmans – Director of Finance, Facilities & Information Technology for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice

PFM is excited to announce that Rene Appelmans will be joining Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in the role of Director of Finance, Facilities & Information Technology. Rene’s career has been focused on leading large teams and establishing positive change in the public education sector. Rene and his family have recently moved to Greater Vancouver from Winnipeg Manitoba where he was the Secretary Treasurer for the Winnipeg School Division.  Rene’s calm professional demeanor along with his compassionate and people-first approach will be a natural fit for the hospice.

Canuck Place is a caring, innovative children’s hospice and community-based service that fully embraces the life of each child and family. The organization provides leadership in improving pediatric palliative care provincially, nationally and internationally through collaboration, education and research.

Wendy Strugnell – Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Human Resources Officer for WorkSafeBC

PFM Executive Search is very pleased to announce that Wendy Strugnell will be joining WorkSafeBC’s executive team as Vice President, Corporate Services and CHRO in August 2016. In this role, Wendy will provide senior leadership for the human resources; government, community and media relations; review division, learning and development and facilities management functions at WorkSafeBC.

Wendy brings significant leadership and senior human resources experience to this role. With over twenty years of human resources experience in private and public sector environments, Wendy is currently Vice President, People and Organizational Development with the Fraser Health Authority. Fraser Health Authority oversees 12 acute care hospitals and hundreds of community services across the region and has over 24,000 employees and 2,500 physicians. In this role, Wendy led a team of over 350 staff and was responsible for delivering human resources strategies, programs and services that align with the organization’s goals. As a senior leader, she has been involved with strategic planning, major change initiatives, government and stakeholder relations, issues management and has provided support to the Board of Governance and HR Committee.

Wendy brings strong leadership skills, broad human resources and business expertise and significant executive experience in working in a large, complex organization. Wendy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia.

PFM Executive Search Names New Partner

June 21, 2016 – Vancouver, BC. PFM Executive Search is proud to announce the naming of Allison Rzen as Partner. Allison has been with PFM for 16 years, most recently as Associate Partner, and is committed to continuing to build on the firm’s reputation for developing long-term relationships and for delivering high levels of customer service and client satisfaction.

“One of Allison’s many strengths is her ability to get down to the core of what makes people tick and truly understand what clients and candidates are looking for,” said PFM co-founding partner George Madden. “She embodies PFM’s culture and unique approach to helping both our clients and candidates succeed. Having Allison on the management team as an equity partner strengthens our capabilities and positions us for continued success and growth.”

Allison started at PFM in 1999 as a research associate, transitioning after five years to the role of consultant and later senior consultant.  In 2008 she was named Associate Partner. Before joining PFM, Allison coordinated convention services for the Greater Vancouver Convention and Visitors Bureau. Her blend of business acumen and exceptional interpersonal abilities enable her to quickly identify the specific skills and intangible qualities required by companies to be successful in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

Allison resides on Vancouver’s north shore where she and her husband are raising two young children and where she is fulfilling her passion for community involvement. She currently serves as a commissioner on the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission and as a member of the North Vancouver District Public Library Board. She is also a past board member of the Directorate of Agencies for School Health (DASH-BC), an interagency network that enables students to develop to their fullest potential.
