Capilano University President Retires

Dr. Kris Bulcroft has retired after six years as President of Capilano University, a position she assumed in 2010 following a global search conducted by PFM Executive Search.

At a special retirement function held to honour her term as President of the university, Dr. Bulcroft spoke of the advances made at Capilano University and the positive impacts made over the last several years.  Capilano University is a post-secondary institution that has gone through a considerable evolution from a university college standing to one of BC’s preeminent teaching universities under the guidance of Dr. Bulcroft.

PFM Executive Search was engaged by the Board of Capilano University to recruit an innovative academic leader for the institution and Dr. Bulcroft was hired through a rigorous selection committee process.  She had a distinguished 20-year career at Western Washington University, serving as a professor of sociology as well as vice-provost for undergraduate education – a position she held until 2008 when she joined Franklin College – Switzerland as provost and vice-president for academic affairs before joining Capilano University as only its sixth President and its second Vice-Chancellor.  Dr. Bulcroft is a recipient of several Fulbright Awards for research and teaching in Canada and Slovakia, and has served as a reviewer for Fulbright proposals for Central Europe.

Trish Pekeles – Director, Financial Operations for the University of British Columbia

PFM Executive Search is pleased to announce that Trish Pekeles has joined the University of British Columbia (UBC) as the Director, Financial Operations.

Trish brings over 20 years of strategic leadership in finance, both in the public and private sectors, coupled with experience across all core business functions and operations, including financial management and reporting, strategic planning, procurement, and contract negotiation. Trish joins UBC after working at BC Hydro for a number of years, where she held several financial leadership roles, ranging from Director Finance Generation, Technology, Power Smart and Partnerships; Executive Director Procurement; and Chief Strategy Officer. Previously, Trish was the Vice President of Finance and Administration with Vancouver Community College.

Sunny Leung – Chief Development Officer for the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation

PFM Executive Search would like to congratulate Sunny Leung on his recent appointment as the new Chief Development Officer with the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.  Sunny brings extensive experience working with diverse communities, and has developed strategies specifically around major gifts and planned giving.

Sunny enjoyed a successful career as the Director, Philanthropy and Sponsorship for the BC Children’s Hospital, before taking up his new position with S.U.C.C.E.S.S.  He played a strong role in the creation of the Chinese Canadian Planned Giving Committee for the BC Children’s Hospital, and having moved from Hong Kong as an immigrant, understands the nature of the mandate as the new Chief Development Officer with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.

Brenda Lee Doyle – Assistant Deputy Minister, Social Services for the Government of Yukon

Following a comprehensive national search, PFM Executive Search congratulates Brenda Lee Doyle on her appointment to Government of Yukon as Assistant Deputy Minister, Social Services. Brenda Lee will be responsible for the development and delivery of a complex portfolio of social services and programs  for residents of this truly unique Canadian territory.

Brenda Lee brings to Yukon more than 22 years of progressive Senior and Executive management experience in three provincial governments, most recently as Assistant Deputy Minister, Disability Services Division, Alberta Ministry of Human Services.  In this role, she led the integration of all adult, children and adult disability programs and services, co-led the Alberta FASD Prevention Initiative and led the Alberta community disability organizations to outcome-focused services and contracting.

From the Social Services area, she has a history of collaborative and integrated delivery with health systems. Brenda Lee was also responsible for Public Guardian and Public Trustee offices.

In British Columbia, Brenda Lee led the implementation of the Adult Guardianship legislation while being responsible for the Guardianship office. In Prince Edward Island, she was Provincial Director of Child, Youth and Family Services and worked with the Premier to develop The Premier’s Council on Family Violence.

She has served as Director of Psychology in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, as well as having experience as a community mental health counsellor and registered psychologist.

Greg Shepherd – Chief Executive Officer of Pharmasave, Pacific Region

PFM Executive Search congratulates Greg Shepherd on being selected as the new CEO of Pharmasave, Pacific Region after an extensive national search process. Greg succeeds David Reston and will ensure continuity of culture and leadership given his tenure with the organization. Greg is a pharmacist by training and enjoyed a successful career with Shoppers Drug Mart before joining the Pharmasave corporate office in 2011. He has also served the profession by sitting as a Board Member of the BC Pharmacy Association since 2009 and taking on the Chair role from 2011-2012.
