New to COWI North America is Chief Financial Officer, George Niktaris, who comes from his previous role of Deputy General Manager & Vice President, Finance at Cegertec (formerly Cegertec Worleyparsons) in Montreal. George brings over 16 years of senior accounting and finance experience, including time spent in the UAE as Finance Manager for SNC-Lavalin. An accomplished strategic financial leader, George will work closely with the COWI offices throughout North America and with the COWI International office in Denmark.

Mark Collins Commences Role as new President & CEO of BC Ferries

PFM Executive Search congratulates Mark Collins as he begins his new position as President & CEO of BC Ferries – one of the largest ferry operators in the world, providing year-round vehicle and passenger service on 24 routes to 47 terminals, with a fleet of 34 vessels.

Following a competition with candidates from around the world expressing interest in the position of CEO, the Board of Directors for BC Ferries named Mark to the senior leadership position.  He brings experience as a senior marine executive for the past 20 years, including past roles as the President of Rolls Royce Marine Brazil and Italy, and Vice President of Global Technical Services, CSL Group. Previous to being named CEO, Mark was Vice President of Strategic Planning & Community Engagement at BC Ferries, and was the Vice President, Engineering between 2004 and 2012.

When making the appointment, Board Chair Donald Hayes said, “Mark Collins has demonstrated his ability to lead teams and work collaboratively with diverse groups, skills we believe to be vital for the CEO position.” Hayes added, “Mr. Collins cares deeply for the company, its employees and the people in coastal communities who regularly use our services. The Board looks forward to working with him in his new role.”

Donald Hayes said the Board unanimously agreed that Mark Collins has the ideal combination of maritime experience, academic training, operational expertise and leadership skills. Mark has 35 years of marine experience, 20 of them in executive leadership positions; holds a Master of Business Administration (Transport and Logistics) and a Diploma of Technical (Marine) Engineering; has delivered more than $1 billion worth of projects on-time and on-budget; and has been a Marine Engineer Officer on oil tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels and fishing vessels.

David Fleugel – Chief Constable for the Port Moody Police Department

PFM Executive Search recently completed a national search for the new Police Chief for the City of Port Moody and the Police Board has announced the selection of David Fleugel as Chief Constable effective April 1, 2017.

Chief Fleugel has 25 years of experience with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), including extensive experience in patrol, property crimes, major crimes, drug enforcement, leadership, and strategic planning. He will be leaving his current role as Superintendent and Officer in Charge with Ridge Meadows RCMP where he leads 122 police officers and 45 civilian support staff who provide police services for the cities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

“On behalf of the Board, the City, and the community, I would like to welcome Chief Fleugel to the Port Moody Police Department,” said Mayor Mike Clay, chair of the Port Moody Police Board. “Chief Fleugel brings a tremendous amount of expertise and leadership experience to his new role as chief constable, and we look forward to working with him as he guides the department in their exceptional efforts to serve and protect our community.”

Before joining Ridge Meadows RCMP in 2011, Chief Fleugel acted as one of the first regional duty officers for the RCMP Lower Mainland District, and held the position of operations officer with Burnaby RCMP, the second largest RCMP detachment in Canada. He is committed to continuous learning and professional development. Chief Fleugel has a bachelor’s degree from Carleton University, as well as certificates in criminal justice from the University of Virginia and incident command system from the Justice Institute of British Columbia. He is also a proud graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Chief Fleugel succeeds Chief Constable Chris Rattenbury, who is retiring after more than 26 years with the Port Moody Police Department.

Aga Jendo – Director, Finance & Operations for West Point Grey Academy

Harry Gray – Executive Director for Resident Doctors of BC

PFM Executive Search is pleased to announce the placement of Harry Gray as the new Executive Director of Resident Doctors of BC. Harry brings an extensive and dynamic skillset and more than 30 years of leadership experience in the public, educational, and healthcare sectors.

Harry possesses a multitude of knowledge and experience in labor relations, negotiations, and human resources, having worked previously in various leadership roles for Kwantlen Polytechnic University, the Health Employers Association of BC, and Vacouver Coastal Health. Resident Doctors of BC is a certified trade union representing the interests of over 1300 residents in collective bargaining. Residents are doctors engaged in supervised training in a medical specialty for an average of two to five years prior to independent practice.
