BC Assessment
Director, Financial Planning & Business Support

BC Assessment (BCA) is a provincial Crown Corporation created in 1974 with a mandate to establish and maintain real property assessments that are uniform in the whole of British Columbia. They produce an annual Assessment Roll that contains fair, equitable, independent and trusted property assessments for over two million properties in the province. These assessments play a vital role in the property tax system that generates more than $8.6 billion annually to support services that people count on in BC communities, schools, libraries, emergency services, infrastructure, parks and recreation and roads.

Reporting directly to the Vice President & Executive Financial Officer, the Director, Financial Planning and Business Support is a pivotal role at the heart of BC Assessment’s (BCA) financial strategy and operational success. This influential position involves partnering with the Executive and Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors to architect and drive a multi-year financial plan, ensuring the ongoing sustainability and execution of key corporate initiatives. This individual will lead the development of the annual operating and capital budgets, guarantee robust financial policies, procedures, and controls, and oversee crucial accountability documents like the Service Plan and Annual Service Plan Report. Beyond the numbers, the Director will be a strong collaborator, providing leadership to multi-disciplinary teams and acting as an integral member of the Finance Division senior leadership, with the opportunity to influence critical BCA business and financial decisions and even step in for other senior leaders during their absence.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative financial leader who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and is passionate about driving excellence in public service. With a CPA designation and a strong academic foundation in business, finance, or management, this individual brings a decade of progressive leadership experience in financial management, ideally within large organizations. They are known for their ability to lead high-performing teams, foster innovation, and deliver impactful financial strategies that support organizational sustainability and growth. Adept at navigating legislative frameworks and leveraging advanced financial systems like Workday, the successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to senior leadership and the Board, guiding critical decisions through insightful analysis and inclusive engagement. A commitment to continuous improvement, diversity, equity, and inclusion, combined with a talent for building meaningful partnerships, makes this role an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader ready to shape the future of BC Assessment.
