BC Care Providers Association
Chief Executive Officer

Established in 1977, BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is the leading voice for British Columbia’s senior living, wellness, and care sector. Its growing membership includes over 450 long-term care, assisted living, independent living, private-pay home health, and commercial partners from across the province. BCCPA members support more than 19,000 seniors annually in long-term care and assisted living settings, along with 6,500 independent living residents. Additionally, its members deliver almost 2.5 million hours of home care and home support services each year. Demonstrating its commitment to quality care, in 2013 BCCPA worked to establish SafeCare BC, a non-profit society committed to reducing injuries and improving mental health and wellbeing in the continuing care sector. BCCPA is committed be the leading expert and innovator in British Columbia, shaping the future of senior living, wellness, and care.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, and joining the organization at a pivotal time in its history, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership to the association by sustaining and enhancing the level of advocacy for the industry, managing the needs and demands of the membership group, building the brand, and being an expert contributor in the public debate on all issues that affect member firms and the seniors they serve. Accountable for the overall planning, leadership, management, and results of the Association, the CEO will promote industry awareness of mandates, goals, and established outcomes, and be a strong advocate of the senior living, wellness, and care industry. They will develop effective relationships of influence with government officials and establish alliances with other similar associations and key stakeholders in the industry. In addition, they will lead a high performing team, oversee a diverse and comprehensive suite of programs and services, manage a complex budget, and support a highly engaged Board of Directors in fulfilling the organization’s strategic plan.

As the ideal candidate, you have a demonstrated history of advancing the profile of an organization, acting as a major change agent, being creative and seeking out innovative solutions, and facilitating an organization’s ongoing development and advancement in an entrepreneurial way. You have a proven track record of working with government and key public sector stakeholder groups to further a mandate, and have solid and responsive networks amongst legislative and policy decision makers. You are also recognised as a credible, influential, and reliable professional who can be trusted, and you are willing to speak out and advocate with a membership’s best interest at heart. The CEO is a seasoned leader with experience running all aspects of an organization, ideally with some understanding of the unique nature of a not-for-profit business enterprise, and has worked closely with Boards of Directors to guide strategy development and set priorities. Experience in the healthcare sector and prior knowledge of senior living, wellness and care would be an asset, and a passion for supporting elders in our society is a must.

The targeted salary range for this position is $175,000 – $220,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package
