BC Securities Commission
Manager, Human Resources

Centrally located in downtown Vancouver, the BC Securities Commission (BCSC) strives to make the investment markets benefit the public, enabling people to achieve their financial goals, enterprises to grow, and British Columbia to thrive. Through smart rules, diligent oversight, strong enforcement, and reliable guidance, we act as guardians of the province’s investment marketplace, striving to make BC a place where people can invest with confidence and companies can flourish. We are an independent agency accountable to the provincial legislature and the public through the Minister of Finance.

With a significant transformation agenda underway, both across the organization and within its Human Resources function, the BCSC is seeking an accomplished, hands-on leader to join its team as Manager, Human Resources. This is a unique opportunity to shape people practices at an organization that plays a vital role in protecting British Columbians and their investments.

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across the full spectrum of human resources, including employee relations, workplace investigations, disability and accommodation management, compensation, talent acquisition and HR policy and program development. Leading a team of six HR and payroll professionals, the Manager oversees the day-to-day delivery of responsive, solutions-focused HR services and serves as a senior resource and trusted advisor to leaders at all levels. The successful candidate will build people leadership capability across the Commission, partner with the CHRO to advance key organizational and HR initiatives and ensure that HR policies and practices are applied consistently, fairly and in compliance with legislation.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished, hands-on HR leader with strong employee relations experience, a thorough understanding of employment legislation and workplace investigations, and a genuine passion for the HR profession. They will bring 5 to 10 years of progressive human resources experience, including at least three years in a management role. A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered a strong asset as well as experience in disability management, compensation and the public sector. A natural problem solver who sees the bigger picture, they navigate ambiguity with confidence, bring a proven track record of leading change, and understand the advisory nature of HR, offering balanced advice with integrity and professionalism. Above all, they lead with humility and a team-first mindset, fostering collaboration, and building trust through clear communication, empathy, coaching, and mentorship.

The expected salary range for this position is $145,000 to $165,000, supplemented by a
competitive total rewards program.

The BC Securities Commission embraces diversity and is committed to building an inclusive workforce that celebrates the richness of our community. We aim to ensure every job applicant is treated fairly and with respect and encourage applications from all candidates, including those with diverse abilities.

Applicants who require accommodation during the recruitment process are encouraged to advise PFM in confidence so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada. Investment restrictions apply.
