Senior Director, Financial Planning and Reporting

Founded in 1918, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is the most established, most extensive community mental health organization in Canada. CMHA is a federated charity, which means it’s a collective of organizations bound together by a brand and mission. Together, CMHA identifies and responds toCanada’smost pressing mental health priorities. Since its establishment in 1952, CMHA’s BC division (CMHA BC) has advocated for changes to legislation and policy affecting people with a mental illness that ensured the availability of community alternatives, access to housing, and income supports. Through this work, CMHA BC has played an important role in the reform of the mental health care system in BC and it is proud to be part of a network of CMHA branches in communities across BC whose grassroots involvement and direct services have touched the lives of countless British Columbians.

Due to recent growth, CMHA BC is looking for a Senior Director, Financial Planning and Reporting  to join the organization.  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Senior Director, Financial Planning and Reporting provides strategic financial oversight and ensures efficient accounting and financial system operations are in place across CMHA BC.  The Senior Director, Financial Planning and Reporting  leads   CMHA BC’s multi-year annual budget planning process and ensures the provision of proactive reporting and analysis of actual financial performance. This position is responsible for effective stewardship of CMHA BC resources and developing and maintaining  an updated financial framework for setting, measuring, analyzing, and reporting on financial  performance measures. The Senior Director will play a key role in ensuring CMHA BC’s operations are efficient and effective and adhere to appropriate financial and regulatory controls.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of financial expertise, leadership skills, cultural awareness and humility, and a dedication to CMHA BC’s values, contributing to the organization’s vision of a Canada where mental health is a universal human right. With a solid track record in finance, the selected individual will be versed in the development of budgetary strategies that meet the unique needs of a federated charity and possess the ability to understand, utilize, and communicate multifaceted concepts and practices. Capable of navigating complex organizational landscapes, the ideal candidate will articulate a financial vision that achieves consensus, driving the organization towards its objectives in a sustainable way. An understanding of the not-for-profit sector’s financial dynamics will be critical, as will a track record in leading teams and building strong relationships with internal and external partners. Guided by integrity, openness, and transparency, the Senior Director will exemplify leadership that inspires trust, focus, and collaboration, adeptly leading CMHA BC following a period of significant growth and change.

The targeted salary range for this position is $108,000 – $155,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
