Engineers and Geoscientists BC
Chief Regulatory Officer & Registrar

Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia regulates and governs the engineering and geoscience professions under the authority of the Professional Governance Act (PGA). We are responsible for protecting the public interest by setting and maintaining high academic, experience, and professional practice standards for over 45,000 registrants and over 4,900 firm registrants. We are a not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of elected registrants and government appointees. The Board is accountable to the public through the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, under the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance, for both the governance and management of the organization.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a key regulatory organization in British Columbia – guiding the future of engineering and geoscience in the province while making a meaningful impact on public safety and professional standards.

The Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO) and Registrar provides strategic leadership of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s regulatory functions, including admissions, registration, professional practice, enforcement, investigation, discipline, and legislation. As Registrar, the CRO carries out duties as set out under the PGA its regulations, and bylaws, ensuring all regulatory activity upholds the organization’s public protection mandate. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive team and Board, the CRO oversees the Registration, Professional Practice, and Legislation, Ethics and Compliance departments.

This is a pivotal leadership role guiding the organization as it continues to evolve. The CRO will help shape the culture and operating model of a modern, human-centered regulator by strengthening internal trust and cohesion, aligning operations with the strategic plan, and fostering collaboration across departments. They will also play a central role in building trusted relationships across the organization and with external partners, including government and peer regulators. The CRO will contribute to the next strategic plan and lead the advancement of regulatory KPIs, consistent measurement practices, and stronger public accountability.

The ideal candidate is an experienced executive with a proven ability to lead large, specialized teams through change while fostering a high-performing and engaged culture. With a clear track record of developing people and supporting leadership growth, they lead with empathy and accountability, encourage continuous learning, and are motivated by the opportunity to create long-term positive impact. They listen with curiosity, draw on evidence and diverse perspectives to inform decisions, and bring focus to both strategy and execution. As a member of the executive team, they will help shape the next phase of the organization’s evolution as a modern regulator that protects the public and inspires confidence among registrants, government, and the broader community.

The targeted salary range for this position is $214,200 – $239,400 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
