Squamish Nation
Chief Financial Officer

The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) is one of the most dynamic First Nations in British Columbia, and the future of the Nation is one of ambition, opportunity and growth. With approximately $1 billion in major community building projects and initiatives underway – including the development of the Sen̓áḵw lands which is creating 6000 housing units in the heart of Kitsilano – Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw is poised to have a major influence throughout its ancestral lands.

A member of the Nation’s senior leadership team and reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Services, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the Nation’s lead finance executive and will be pivotal in transforming how the Nation manages its finances in order to achieve its growth goals. The CFO provides strategic financial, investment, capital planning, and risk management advice to the CAO and Council with respect to the plans and operations of the Nation, and leads the development of strategic business and financial strategies. Leading a strong team of professionals, the CFO takes a future-oriented approach and plays a key role in enabling the Nation to achieve its plans – including close to $1 billion in infrastructure development – in a highly unique, fast paced and high growth environment. They do this in part by building strong working relationships with senior officials at the provincial and federal government level, MST Development Corporation, Hiy̓ám̓ Housing, Nch’ḵay̓ Development Corporation, lending institutions, industry representatives and other funding and development partners. Above all, the CFO will lead in all work with the Nation’s values at the core, ensuring work is carried out with the best interests of Nation members in mind.

As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic and adaptable financial leader who thrives in complex, high-growth, transformational environments. You combine sound financial acumen with a deep appreciation for Indigenous governance and community priorities, and have proven your ability to align the use of financial tools and resources with community or client priorities. You balance prudent decision-making with a willingness to take informed risks, enabling sustainable growth and innovation, ideally within a government context. Skilled in financial planning, analysis, and capital management, you are known for setting clear direction and aligning teams around shared goals. You foster accountability and collaboration, and you demonstrate that working in partnership can lead to greater success. Your ability to bridge strategic vision with operational execution ensures decisions remain grounded in community values and organizational sustainability. Your experience will be augmented by a CPA designation in good standing, and an MBA will be considered an asset.

The targeted salary range for this position is $160,000 – $170,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
