The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw is one of the most dynamic First Nations in British Columbia, and the future is one of ambition, opportunity, and growth. With major community building projects and initiatives underway – including the development of the Sen̓áw lands which will create 6000 housing units, in the heart of Kitsilano – the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw is poised to have a major influence throughout its ancestral lands from Vancouver and Squamish to Whistler.

The Executive Director, Community Services is responsible for a significant portfolio, overseeing hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure and development, while maintaining the health and safety of existing community assets. The division’s six distinct areas encompass Planning & Capital Projects, Community Operations, Squamish Valley Operations, Senakw Operations, Community Lands, and Public Safety. The Executive Director will work to identify opportunities for the departments to work more closely together, innovate, and ensure they are meeting the Council’s vision and goals. As part of Squamish Nation’s executive team, reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Executive Director will have the opportunity to influence the organization’s strategic direction. The Executive Director working closely with a wide variety of external partners, including local governments, regional communities, provincial and federal governments, and nation-owned entities.

As the ideal candidate, you have been responsible and accountable for overseeing a large and diverse portfolio in planning, development, operations, emergency and public safety, ensuring a high level of customer service to a broad range of clients. You bring experience working in a public sector environment where needs are extremely varied. A demonstrated leader and relationship builder, you operate with humility, bring creativity to problem solving, and have a proven ability to create a positive and enthusiastic work environment. You are known for your ability to develop trusting working relationships with elected officials, employees, external partners and community members, and you bring a commitment to learning Squamish Nation’s culture and values.

The targeted salary range for this position is $170,000 – $190,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
