TransLink
Vice President, Engineering

Together, All the Way.

Together with our partners, stakeholders, and operating companies, TransLink plans and manages the region’s transportation system. We’re dedicated to creating and sustaining a transportation system that meets the needs of customers, residents, businesses, and goods movers in a way that protects the environment and supports the economic and social objectives of the region. Created in 1999, we deliver our services through contractors, and our operating companies and subsidiaries including Coast Mountain Bus Company, British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (SkyTrain), Metro Vancouver Transit Police and West Coast Express Ltd.

It is a pivotal time for TransLink with a major capital expansion program combined with a reinvigorated focus on customer experience. With that momentum in mind, TransLink is seeking their next Vice President, Engineering.

As a member of TransLink’s Executive team and reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Engineering leads a centre of excellence for the provision of engineering, design, and project management to safely, successfully and expediently deliver a broad portfolio of capital projects and programs across the TransLink enterprise. This role interfaces regularly with the Board of Directors and leads with full authority of approved budget, schedule, scope, procurement, and sale of property for capital projects, ensuring all necessary processes are in place for monitoring, controlling, and measuring cost and progress. The VP manages major road network programs and administration of capital and operating funding agreements with municipalities. In addition, the position oversees operations, maintenance, rehabilitation, and capital improvements to TransLink-owned structures (i.e. roads, bridges, and cycling facilities) for the entire region.

The sought after candidate is a highly effective leader and strategist with a degree in engineering or a related field, and ideally a professional engineering designation. In addition, the candidate will have acquired 15+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience managing complex, high-value capital infrastructure projects, preferably in a large, complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

As the leader of the engineering function, this individual will have exceptional planning, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build consensus and support amongst stakeholders with varying interests and perspectives. They will also possess a strong risk management background to ensure proper risk mitigation processes are maintained. This VP will lead by example and be a champion of safe working practices and culture, taking a collaborative and inclusive approach to managing their team, and encouraging creativity, innovation and open communication.

The targeted salary range for this position is $292,531 – $366,814 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
