Alexandra Korinowsky – Executive Director, Communications, Marketing + Public Affairs – Emily Carr University of Art & Design

PFM Executive Search is excited to announce the appointment of Alexandra Korinowsky as Executive Director, Communications, Marketing + Public Affairs with Emily Carr University of Art & Design, effective immediately.

Alex takes on the executive directorship after serving as Interim Executive Director, Communications, Marketing + Public Affairs, and as Communications Manager, both at ECU. She is a seasoned communications professional, bringing extensive experience in communications, public affairs, and event and project management to the position. She has worked in diverse sectors including cultural, government, non-profit and healthcare.

Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies and art history from McGill University, and a post-graduate certificate in corporate communications and public relations from Toronto’s Centennial College. She has aspirations to pursue a masters degree as part of her commitment to lifelong learning.

During the year Alex has served at ECU, she has worked on numerous organizational priorities including strengthening ECU’s government relations practices, improving budget communications, supporting strategic planning and collective bargaining, and, primarily, seeing the Communications + Marketing department through a challenging period of change and transition.

Tiffanie Ting – Executive Director of Continuing Studies for Emily Carr University of Art + Design

PFM Executive Search is excited to announce the appointment of Tiffanie Ting as the new Executive Director of Continuing Studies for Emily Carr University of Art + Design (ECU)! She will commence her employment on Monday, July 6th, 2020.

In this role, Tiffanie will be providing leadership and strategic direction for all of ECU’s Continuing Studies programs, partnerships and outreach initiatives. She will be working closely with staff, faculty and the entire Academic Affairs team as they broaden their outreach and programming in lielong learning initiatives.

Tiffanie joins ECU with a record of outstanding academic, pedagogical and research achievement. She most recently served as Dean of Cabot House and Lecturer on Sociology at Harvard University, and has worked in art museums in both Canada and the U.S., focusing on art education and community engagement.

Tiffanie has a doctorate in Culture, Communities and Education from Harvard, as well as previous degrees in education (Master of Education, Harvard), and art history and psychology (Bachelor of Arts, University of Toronto).

Her academic interests include issues of identity and learning in cultural institutions; qualitative research design; the sociology of education; and the sociology of art. Most recently, Tiffanie’s work has centred around investigating students’ narratives of academic decision-making and sense of purpose in the context of a liberal arts education.

This move represents a homecoming for Tiffanie, a born-and-raised Vancouverite.

Trish Kelly – Vice-President Academic + Provost for Emily Carr University of Art + Design

PFM Executive Search is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Trish Kelly as the Vice-President Academic + Provost of Emily Carr University of Art + Design (Emily Carr).

Kelly joined Emily Carr as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Culture and Community in 2011, and served as Assistant Dean of the faculty from 2012 to 2015. She has taught from first year undergraduate courses through to graduate studies, and received the Ian Wallace Teaching Award in 2016, which recognizes excellence and innovation in teaching.

Kelly’s record of service to the university is extensive, having served on Senate and the Board of Governors, as Chair of the Curriculum Planning and Review Committee, and on numerous other committees. In 2017, she was appointed Associate Dean of the Master of Fine Arts program, and has worked closely with leadership in the Jake Kerr Faculty of Graduate Studies to develop new programming and professional opportunities.

Kelly holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MA from Tufts University, after beginning her graduate work at Harvard University. She went on to obtain a PhD in art history from The University of British Columbia (UBC), a geographic move that proved to be profound.

After completing her PhD, Kelly joined the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at DePaul University in Chicago, an institution known for its commitment to social justice and open access education. She worked in the Department of History of Art and Architecture and in the Honours program, where she remained until joining Emily Carr.

Her area of research is contemporary art history, including minimal art and abstraction, art and activism, alternative art networks, and duration in new media production. Her articles have been published in Art Journal, American Art, International Journal of Art & Design Education, and The Journal of Curatorial Studies, among others.
