Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our Commitment

Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is authentic and intentional – it’s at the core of what we do. We reflect this in our team, in the executive talent we cultivate, and in the perspectives we bring to our clients during the search process.

Our Practices

What does diversity, equity and inclusion mean to PFM? We ask ourselves this question when we are hiring staff to our own PFM team; we challenge ourselves on this when we are meeting candidates; and we push our clients to ask themselves the same question when they are evaluating new leaders to complement their teams.

Our DEI Committee
At PFM, we believe we can always better ourselves through learning. To help drive this approach, we have a dedicated group of individuals that promote internal discussion around DEI to inform our perspectives and practices.

Research & Recruitment
Our searches include candidates and sources from all backgrounds so that our candidate pool is diverse and rich with talent. We utilize non-traditional career advertising platforms to ensure we are making an opportunity widely known to a broad range of professionals and use non gendered and accessible language in our profiles.

Assessment
Over the course of our assessment process, one of the core competencies we evaluate is a candidate’s demonstrated ability to influence an inclusive and equitable culture within their workplace. We acknowledge that cultural differences can impact the way a candidate presents, therefore we encourage multiple levels of engagement at each step of the recruitment process.

Addressing Unconscious Bias
We are aware of the negative impact of unconscious bias. Through team training, we actively strive to pinpoint ways these biases can affect us and have taken steps to mitigate its impact on our work.

Our goal is to provide our clients with choice and diversity. We are proud to share that since January of 2022, 100% of our short lists have included candidates from under-represented groups.
