This is a rare opportunity to join a recognized leader in marine transportation and make a profound impact on one of the largest and most complex ferry systems in the world. As Chief Financial Officer of BC Ferries, you will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, guiding the financial strategy of an organization that connects coastal communities and drives economic activity across British Columbia. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, you will be instrumental in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of a $1-billion+ operation through robust financial oversight, strategic planning, and capital investment leadership.
Beyond core responsibilities in financial planning & reporting, compliance, and risk management, this role oversees an expansive portfolio including treasury, capital planning, supply chain and commercial cargo services. You are a change leader and will lead modernization initiatives across the finance systems to support function while supporting broader transformation work across the business. You will also play a key role in driving a regulatory process to establish the company’s near to medium term operating and capital plans. As a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, the CFO plays a critical role in shaping BC Ferries’ future through renewal efforts, collaboration, financial insight, and clear, compelling communication.
The ideal candidate is an experienced senior financial leader with a CPA designation and, ideally, deep expertise in large, capital-intensive, rate-regulated industries. You are known for your strategic mindset, collaborative leadership style, and ability to build high-performing teams. With a track record of leading through complexity and transformation, you are ready to take on a pivotal leadership role in an iconic BC institution—driving performance, supporting people, and delivering long-term value for communities across the province.
The targeted salary range for this position is $360,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
